Our Mission:
- The Portage Park Cougars is an all volunteer, not-for-profit organization established to promote the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football.
- Players compete in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork, builds self-esteem and teaches respect for others.
- Rules and regulations have been established to ensure that players play in a safe, non-threatening competitive environment with a competitive balance between teams.
- The Portage Park Cougars currently compete in the TCYFL.
Our Beliefs:
- We believe that each of us can make a difference where we live and how we live and that all kids deserve equal opportunities, special attention and respect.
- We welcome everyone to support youth football in order to build a stronger community.
Our Goals:
- To provide a wholesome competitiveness within the scope of our rules and regulations that will protect the youth athlete and cheerleader.
- To teach the fundamentals of football and coordinate cheerleader activities.
- To provide a responsible football and cheerleader program where none is provided by the public schools.
- To influence good sportsmanship, teamwork, highest moral and physical standards and the importance of scholarship and academic achievement.
Meetings:
- Board meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of every month, except December.
- General meetings, which are open to the public, are held on the 4th Friday of every month, except December.
